Portsmouth Sports Club
The Portsmouth Sports Club held its July meeting at the Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club. The club's new president, Sharon Moore, called the meeting to order, and introduced the new members of the Board of Directors. The club presented a check to the Sports Club Foundation in the amount of $11,170. Mahlon Parker of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament also presented a $1,000 check for deserving athletes to further their education. Virginia Wesleyan's men's cross country and track and field head coach Mat Littleton gave an inspiring presentation on his coaching philosophy- explaining how sports teach young people the value of cooperation, teamwork, punctuality, winning with humility and losing with grace.
